mtp lifetime achievement award - honouring anne cuthbert, wed nov 14

MCMANUS STAGE (THE GRAND THEATRE), 471 richmond st

Musical Theatre Productions opens its 30th anniversary season with a Broadway classic, as everyone’s favourite matchmaker Dolly Levi comes to London in HELLO, DOLLY!  This blockbuster musical bursts with humor, romance, and high-energy dancing. Winning 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical in its original run, HELLO, DOLLY! has been revived on Broadway numerous times featuring Carol Channing, Pearl Bailey, Ethel Merman, Bernadette Peters, and most recently Bette Midler.

In 1890, Dolly Gallagher-Levi, turn-of-the-century matchmaker and “woman who arranges things,” travels to Yonkers, home of Horace Vandergelder, the famed “half-a-millionaire”, who has engaged Dolly to keep his niece, Ermengarde, away from the advances of the young artist, Ambrose Kemper, and to aid in Horace’s marriage proposal to Irene Molloy, a New York milliner. Dolly, however, has eyes on Horace for herself.  Meanwhile, Cornelius and Barnaby, Horace’s bright-eyed clerks, venture to New York themselves, only to fall for Irene and her assistant, Minnie Fay.  The romantic and comic exploits of Dolly are certain to thrill and entertain audiences again and again as she attempts to lead all of the young lovers to a happy ending while snaring a husband for herself.

Featuring some of the greatest songs in Broadway history like "Put On Your Sunday Clothes", “Ribbons Down My Back”. “Hello, Dolly!” and "Before the Parade Passes By", this Golden Age musical with a score by Jerry Herman comes to the McManus Stage at the Grand Theatre like you have never seen it before - in the round - fully immersing the audience in all of the music and mayhem!  HELLO, DOLLY! plays November 9-17, 2018 launching MTP’s 30th anniversary celebration.

Anne Cuthbert is a driven theatre artist, and a long-time member of the Musical Theatre Productions family. Anne has been a part of London Musical Theatre (now Musical Theatre Productions) from the beginning, setting up lights for our inaugural production of Evita in 1988. We even managed to get Anne onstage as a performer in our 1994 Production of The Pajama Game. Whether it is sitting behind a followspot, or in the booth or at the stage management table in rehearsal, Anne is a staple of the London theatre community having worked with a wide range of local companies including London Community Players, Original Kids Theatre Company, Port Stanley Festival Theatre, Fountainhead Theatre, Theatre Soup and even currently with Calithumpian Theatre Company as stage manager for their production of Hir directed by our next Lifetime Membership Award recipient and founder of London Musical Theatre, John Gerry.
